A Record of Disruption

The following is a statement from Diane Orona, PUSD Administrative Services Manager (retired):

My name is Diane Orona, former school board liaison for the Pasadena Unified School District.  I worked for the District for over 20 years with five different boards.

Never during all those years have I witnessed a board member as ineffectual as Tina Fredericks.  She is a weak team player, disrespectful and argumentative, which led to her hiring an attorney and suing the school district.

Protocols were created for our board to enable them to avoid pitfalls and work efficiently and effectively.  One of the protocols involved board members working with staff prior to writing any articles that would be published so that facts were checked – a fairly common procedure.

Ms. Fredericks, unable to effectively negotiate with other board members to change the language in this protocol, rushed to sue the school board and the district, costing the district approximately $35,000 in attorney fees to defend the suit.

The fees were taken from the general fund – monies which directly support students. She defends herself proudly, stating that no costs were involved, which is simply untrue.

Our students deserve better.

Suing the District and Costing Taxpayers $35,000 in Legal Fees

Did you know, after getting elected to the School Board, Tina Fredericks sued the PUSD School District and her board colleagues?

When nobody else on the School Board agreed with her stance on Covid vaccinations, Tina got frustrated and filed a frivolous, unnecessary lawsuit against PUSD, costing taxpayers $35,000 in attorney’s fees.

Democracy didn’t work for Tina, so she found an attorney to bully PUSD. She boasted that her lawyers “probably could have gotten tens of thousands of dollars in attorneys’ fees” from PUSD. In other words, from us taxpayers.

We can't waste time and money on drama and distractions. Our funds must be 100% dedicated to our kids if we are truly putting students first. Let’s focus on the needs of our children.

Not Tending to the Basic Needs of Our Students

Did you know that the cafeterias in two local schools have no central AC?

Don Benito Fundamental School and Sierra Madre Elementary children have gone without AC and heat for YEARS. Tina Fredericks failed to prioritize fixing the problem. During record heat waves, our children and staff still need the basics. She was elected in 2020. She failed to fight for our students when it mattered most.

We can’t support failed leadership.

Vote Tina Fredericks out.
